We'd build the hierarchy on top of PostgreSQL recursive CTEs — so even on a 50+ level tree, queries return in milliseconds and commissions can be calculated in real time, not as an end-of-month batch. The compensation engine would be rule-based: binary, unilevel, matrix, hybrid, breakaway — all supported, with bonus layers (rank-up, fast-start, generation, matching, leadership) toggled from the admin panel in minutes.
